Equity in the Home

I need some mortgage advice on if it be better to take the equity that has been earned and possibly invest it elsewhere? Of course you would have to figure out if the money you have made in the house is enough to cover any fees or penalties for refinancing, would it be a good idea? I like the idea that I have made a wise investment with my property but I would like to continue to have my money work for me and continue building equity in the house.
