I refuse to be a victim. I have survived car crashes, a house fire and cervical cancer. I am now suffering from shy bladder syndrome. Although seemingly harmless it has had a more severe effect on my personal life and professional growth because social fear enthrals me. My brain suffocates with thoughts of having to use a public restroom while other people are within ear shot. I sometimes choose to stay home and not go out and enjoy life or attend a conference because I am afraid of how uncomfortable when I let my shy bladder control my life. I am going to do whatever it takes to fix it.
