Celebration of Veterans Day
March 24th, 2008 . by adminNovember 11 is the day that most countries celebrate Veterans‘ Day. Other countries such as the United Kingdom call this day Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, signifying the finish of World War I. In the United States, Veteran’s Day is considered both a national and a state holiday. It was announced and signed into law by former US President, Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954 to commemorate and give honor to the military servicemen and women who worked and sacrificed for the country.
People have different ways of commemorating this holiday for the servicemen and women. Each state organizes various public affairs in honoring the soldiers such as parades, giving recognition and awards.
